Bladder cancer ranks fifth on the list of most common cancers in the United States. Nearly 60,000 cases are diagnosed each year and more than 12,000 will die of the disease. Men, Caucasians and smokers have twice the risk of bladder cancer than the general population. When diagnosed and treated in a localized stage, bladder cancer is very treatable, with a five-year cancer-specific survival rate approaching 95%.

Smoking is the single greatest risk of bladder cancer. The incidence increases in people 50 and older. Chronic bladder problems like infections and kidney stones can also be risk factors, although no direct link has been established.

It can turn into a nearby body such as the uterus or vagina (in women) or prostate (in men). It can also invade the wall of the abdominal wall.

My stepfather has survived cancer of the bladder for 32 years! He had a catheter and a bag for those 32 years. He lived to 82 and died of brain cancer at this age. The main question, it was restricted in his intestines huge doses of radiation they go back to the late 70′s. he had a very active life and traveled in many countries and came to visit us on numerous occasions, Alaska. It was not difficult it was just different
