What is the difference between a brain tumor and brain cancer?

Question by The Chaparra : What is the difference between a brain tumor and brain cancer
and what is “easier” to control or treat ..? Best answer:
Answer by Ivana

Gitov
tumors are not always cancerous. Cancer generally spreads (while not benign), making it more difficult to control, but it is not always the case. It depends on the location of the tumor, too. For example, a brain tumor from my father is not cancerous, but because of its place, it is unusable, when a cancerous tumor may be able to be removed with a simple surgical treatment if in some areas.

Q & A: What are the differences between brain tumors and brain cancer?

They are the same thing but a person may have a tumor or some kind of growth that has no cancer cells in it. Non-cancerous tumors can be problematic, especially when they are in the brain or near some other vital organs – they support the space and cause serious problems. Some cancers, like brain cancer called medulloblastoma, have no well-defined edges, like a tumor could. Removing the cancer is a surgical procedure it difficult or impossible. Sometimes cancer may start in another part of the body and cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body, such as the brain. This process is called metastasis.

Link between the removal of the gallbladder and colon cancer?

Question by Cate : The link between gallbladder removal and colon cancer
I’ll have my gallbladder removed quickly and was reading some online risks and came upon several articles which say that removing your gallbladder increases your chances of colon cancer. Has anyone heard this or know why? Best answer:
Answer by

A quick search on Google shows that it slightly raises risque.Comme a medical student, I learned that inflammatory bowel disease, diets low fiber and genetic diseases (FAP, HNPCC) all predisposed to colon cancer. I guess cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) has a negligible effect.

Q&A: Is there a link between breast cancer and ovarian cancer?

Question by D and N’s mommy: Is there a link between breast cancer and ovarian cancer?
The doctors think my grandmother may have very advanced ovarian cancer, tests are coming back today. So is ovarian cancer hereditary? And I googled it, and all these things about increased risk of both ovarian and breast cancer are coming up. So is my risk for both cancer increased now? Are they linked in some way?

Best answer:

Answer by lo_mcg
Cancer is rarely hereditary, and ovarian cancer is no exception.

Only about 10% of ovarian cancer cases are hereditary and caused by an inherited faulty gene. You don’t say how old your grandmother is; most cases of ovarian cancer occur in women who have had the menopause, and ovarian (and other) cancers diagnosed after the age of 50 are even less likely to be hereditary.

The rare faulty inherited genes that increase the risk of ovarian cancer include BRCA1 and BRCA2; these genes also increase the risk of breast cancer

The chances are that you’re not at increased risk of either cancer.

My best wishes to your grandmother

I do not know as a scientist or as a doctor but from other instances that I have heard about, there have been people I know who turned out to have cancer in or near the esophegus after having cervical cancer. I am sorry to hear about your friend and she will be in my prayers. Keep hopes high, God works in mysterious ways. :)

How long do you have to wait between rouns of chemo when you have ovarian cancer?

Question by : How long do you have to wait between rouns of chemo when you have ovarian cancer?
My mom was just diagnosed with stage IIIC ovarian cancer and she is having her first round of intravenous chemo radiation tomorrow and I was wondering how long she would have to wait for the next round. I cant be with her to ask these questions but two of my other sister’s are there with her.

Best answer:

Answer by Carol
Hello:
Very hard question because the doctor will have to go by how
your mom is doing. If her cell count goes to low than they
have to wait and with others it can be on a schedule so
that is why it is a hard question.
But call your sisters and have one of them write down all of
your moms questions on paper than go in with her and take
notes. Trust me you want someone to take notes and bring
your questions with you.
I hope this helps.
I get my chemo usually on either a 4 week or 5 week schedule.
I hand my questions to the doctor when I get in the room.
He reads them than we talk about each question. I have
found this method works best and saves him time and
helps me with all my questions or concerns.
Best of luck and be supportive of her chemo is not easy but
is needed. Keep telling her she is needed.

What is the key difference between male breast cancer and regular breast development?

Question by : What is the key difference between male breast cancer and regular breast development?
I asked a question about whether or not I had breast cancer awhile back, and the responses were generally no. However, I am curious as to how to define one from another, as they both have similar qualities. The main one I am concerned with is breast lumps under the nipple area. How can you tell the difference?

Best answer:

Answer by Waytootiny
There is allot of difference. One is normal body tissue and the other is an invasive tumor. Here is a link for you to research breast buds(Thelarche) further. This should help answer the remaining questions you might have. Good Luck
